Bobcat Women’s Sprint Crew Dominates Day at Bengal Invite

Montana State’s Macy White, Peyton Garrison, Caroline Hawkes, and Jaeden Wolff had themselves a day at the Bengal Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Davis Field.
Montana State's Macy White, Peyton Garrison, Caroline Hawkes, and Jaeden Wolff had themselves a day at the Bengal Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Davis Field. The foursome set a Bobcat school record in the 4x100-meter relay, while White captured both the 100 and 200-meter races as Garrison, Hawkes and Wolff followed close behind.
MSU capped the invitational winning the 4x400-meter relay as White, Garrison and Hawkes were joined by freshman Giulia Gandolfi to post a time of 3:40.76- tops in the Big Sky this spring and the second-best mark ever recorded at MSU.
White, a redshirt sophomore from Woodstock, Ga., won the 100-meters with a personal-best 11.72, while her clocking of 24.04 at 200-meters was also a PR and the second-best mark in MSU history. Her effort in the 200m moved into fourth on the Big Sky performance list.
Garrison, a freshman from New Castle, Colo., finished second in the 200m with a time of 24.30, moving her into the league's top 10 and into fifth on MSU's all-time chart. She also placed sixth at 100m in 12.12. Hawkes also had an historical race at 200m posting a mark of 24.40, registering a top 10 Big Sky performance and the eighth best mark at Montana State.
Wolff, a freshman from Billings West, placed third in the 100m in 12.04 and was fifth at 200m in 25.09.
Aside from the sprint crew's outstanding performance, five other Bobcats won events on the women's side.
In pole vault, junior Maisee Brown cleared the bar at 13.02-.50 (4.03) to move into second on this season's Big Sky performance list. The mark also ranked fifth all-time for the Bobcats. All-America standout Lucy Corbett won the high jump at 5-8.75, the second-best mark in the Big Sky this spring.
Taylor Brisendine and Hailey Coey finished first and second, respectively, in triple jump. Brisendine, a sophomore from Kalispell, went a season-best 38-10.25 (11.84) to move into eighth on the Big Sky chart and ninth on MSU's all-time list. Coey finished with a mark of 38-04.75 (11.70).
Senior Jordan Fink posted a season-best toss of 48-01.25 (14.66) to solidify her Big Sky ranking at No. 3, while Leah Klein placed third with a mark of 44-08.75 (13.63). In discus, Kyla Bush posted a season-best 144-6 (44.05) to move into the league's top 10. Klein finished third at 144-5.
MSU's final event win came at 800m where Madison Smith registered a time of 2:10.61.
Junior Ian Fosdick was MSU's lone event champion on the men's side. The product of Mahtomedi, Minn., notched a season-best 49-00.75 (14.95) in triple jump to move into sixth on MSU's all-time chart and this season's Big Sky performance list. Dylan Lee finished third at 42-03.25 (12.88).
Stryder Todd-Fields paced MSU in the sprints, finishing fourth at 100m matching a career-best 10.75. The freshman from Portland, Ore., placed fifth at 200m in 21.63. At 400m, Michael Swan, Jr., placed third in 48.81.
Junior Carter Slade led the Bobcats in the throwing events. The product of Billings West finished fourth in both the shot put and discus. In discus, his season-best toss of 161-10 (49.33) moved him into eighth on the Big Sky performance list, while his mark of 54.08.25 (16.67) solidified his No. 6 spot in the conference. Matt Furdyk placed fifth in discus (159-0) and sixth in the shot (51.05.75).
Montana State hosts the Tom Gage Invitational, Saturday, May 6 at the Bobcat outdoor track and field complex.
