Bobcat Golf Completes First Day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

Senior Kameryn Basye is leading the Bobcats through the first two rounds of the three-round tournament.
'EWA BEACH, Hawai'i — The Montana State women's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, an 11-team tournament held at the Hoakalei Country Club course, on Monday, March 6.
Currently the Bobcats are in ninth place with a two-round score of a 24-over 631 (319-312) out of 11 teams, and are 11 strokes behind eighth place Middle Tennessee State. UNC Wilmington is in the lead with a 16-over 592 (294-298), while Long Beach State's Angelina Kim is in the lead with a 3-under 141 (71-70) as the only individual under par.
Senior Kameryn Basye is leading the Bobcats in a six-way tie for 15th with a two-round score of a 7-over 151 (73-78). Basye was in the top five for the majority of the first round before running into some difficulty in the second round. Her five birdies led the team.
Scarlet Weidig Velazquez is in second for the Bobcats with a 14-over 158 (81-77), then Maddie Montoya and Lauren Greeny are tied with 17-over 161s, and Jordan Briggs rounds out the MSU individuals with a 22-over 166 through two rounds.
The final round of the 54-hole tournament will take place tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. HST/10:30 a.m. MT. Live results will be provided by Golfstat; a link will be provided on the women's golf team's schedule page at msubobcats.com.
