FARMINGTON, Utah — Coming off a successful indoor track season, both Montana State outdoor track and field teams were picked second in the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
The top half of the men's and women's polls were nearly identical. Northern Arizona was the top team in both the men's and women's preseason polls. The University of Idaho was picked to finish third on both the men's and the women's side, the Sacramento State women and the Eastern Washington men were picked fourth, while Weber State rounded out the top five in both the men's and women's polls.
Last season, NAU and Montana State went 1-2 at the Big Sky Championships, held at Idaho State in Pocatello, Idaho. The Bobcats return nine of their 17 NCAA West Preliminary qualifiers from a year ago, plus four individual outdoor school record holders in Lucy Corbett, Ian Fosdick, Duncan Hamilton and Camila Noe.
Earlier this year, the Bobcat women placed second at the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships, while the men placed third.
Montana State's next meet is the Al Manuel Invitational, held in Missoula, Mont. from March 24-25. All schedule updates and information can be found on msubobcats.com.
