The Montana State women's basketball team will conclude a span of three game in five days when it hosts Idaho, Monday night at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena. The Bobcats are coming off a two-game road sweep of Idaho State and Weber State.
Montana State (11-7, 4-2) has won four of its last five games, including an 80-65 win at Weber State on Saturday in Ogden. The Bobcats were led by Leia Beattie with 26 points. The junior from Midland, Texas, connected on a career-high six 3-pointers.
Idaho (6-10, 2-3) is on a three-game losing skid after sweeping the Montana schools in the opening week of Big Sky Conference action. The Vandals are coming off a 74-59 loss at Eastern Washington on Saturday.
MSU and UI opened the league season in Moscow on Dec. 29 with the Vandals taking a convincing 72-53 win over the Bobcats. Idaho senior Beyonce Bea posted 20 points in the victory that saw the Vandals connect on 12-of-41 from long distance. Idaho also held a 45-36 advantage under the glass.
The Bobcats were led in the loss by Kola Bad Bear and Lexi Deden with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
"We've grown a lot from our first Big Sky game of the season," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. "Against Idaho, we'll need to be better in transition defense and with our ball pressure. They put up a lot of shots, especially from beyond the arc, and we'll need to be ready to crash the boards and control the glass."
Bea, a 6-1 product of Washougal, Wash., leads the Vandals and the Big Sky averaging 21.9 points per game. Bea also pulls down 8.8 rebounds per contest.
MSU will be led by Darian White, who leads the Bobcats averaging 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Beattie also averages double-digits at 10.8 points per game. She also guides the Bobcats with 34 3-pointers on the season.
