Five Bobcat student-athletes open competition on Sunday
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State's women look to repeat history and the men look to make some beginning Sunday and Monday in Casper, where cowboys and cowgirls from schools across America gather for the 2022 College National Finals Rodeo.

Both MSU teams won the Big Sky region in 2021-22. The men scored 6,269.50 points to easily out-distance UM Western in the season's 10 rodeos. Caleb Berquist won the regional all-around title and also captured the tie-down roping and team roping/header crowns in the Big Sky Region.
The women's team scored 4,428.83 points to out-pace MSU Northern (2,646) and UM Western (2,068.83). Tayla Moeykens won the Big Sky Region barrel racing, while Paige Rasmussen captured the goat tying title. Rasmussen earned the 2021 Women's All-Around title.
While four events began on Sunday, the 2022 CNFR begins in earnest Monday at 7 am. Results are available each day at CNFR.com, or here.
Sunday's MSU competitors included Molly Salmond (T18th in breakaway roping, 2.7), Jacee Currin (25th in breakaway roping), Caleb Meeks (16th in saddle bronc, 64.0), Nate Dearhammer (no score in bareback) and Chase Runfola (no score in bull riding).
