Four Bobcats move into top 20 during third go-round
(June 17, 2026) – Montana State's Wyatt Jensen moved into sixth place in tie down roping after a strong third go-round in that event to lead six Bobcats who competed at the 2026 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming on Wednesday.
Jensen's 10.1 gives him 40.7 on three head, currently sixth on the average with 22 competitors remaining. "Wyatt had a strong run," said MSU head coach Kyle Whitaker. "He has a chance (to qualify for Saturday's short go)."
Three other Bobcats posted scores on Wednesday. Michaela McCormick's 6.9 in goat tying puts her in 10th place with two sections remaining. She is sixth on the average at 20.1. Anneliese McCurry posted a 14.15 to move into 11th in barrel racing, and is now fifth on the average (42.16). Faith Marshall's 14.30 in barrels is currently 17th in the third go, and is now 19th on the average (47.87).
A pair of Bobcats failed to post scores on Wednesday. Jaden Whitman ran into trouble with his steer, while Rachel Ward failed to mark in breakaway roping. "Jaden's steer just stopped," Whitaker said, "so there wasn't anything he could do with that."
Action continues on Thursday with Cole Gerhardt (bareback) and Ryley Mapston (tie down roping) competing during the 7 pm performance. Six Bobcats finish the third go-round on Friday, aiming to qualify for Saturday's championship go.
