The Montana State women's golf returns to Arizona for the third straight week with tournament play on Monday when the Bobcats host the 2022 Bobcat Desert Classic.
The Montana State women's golf returns to Arizona for the third straight week with tournament play on Monday when the Bobcats host the 2022 Bobcat Desert Classic. The 54-hole event, hosted by Montana State University, is set to tee off at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
The tournament will feature a total of 11 teams participating. MSU will be up against eight Big Sky foes in Eastern Washington University, Idaho State University, Utah Valley University, Weber State University, Southern Utah University, Northern Arizona University, University of Northern Colorado, and the University of Montana.
"Everyone has played on this course except for Jordan," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "I am excited to be hosting the tournament at the Golf Club of Estrella. Eight other conference teams will be there, so it'll be a good look into the conference for next weekend."
The women representing Montana State in this meet will be Kameryn Basye, Jordan Briggs, Cora Rosanova, Hannah Rosanova, and Lucita Prieto Romano.
The Bobcats are coming off the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, which was the first April tournament of the spring 2022 season. Junior Kameryn Basye scored highest for the Bobcats as she tied for 41st out of 117 by shooting 11-over-par 227. Cora Rosanova (247) shot a 75 in the first round and finished 107th overall. Hannah Rosanova (249) and Jordan Briggs (249) both finished tied for 108th, and Lucia Prieto Romano (262) placed 115th overall.
"We need to really work on our short game and getting the ball on the fairway. It is important that we get out of our own way, go back to the basics, and do not overthink," Basye said.
Monday invitational play begins at 7:30 a.m. The final day of action is expected to start at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Results for the invitational will be available on Golfstat.com with links found on the team's schedule page on msubobcats.com.
