BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State track and field program returns to competition this Saturday and will not only battle the elements, but will take on a rival as the Bobcats face Montana in the annual Cat-Griz Dual. Events are slated to start at 11:30 a.m. at the Bobcat Track and Field Complex.
MSU has participated in two meet weekends so far during the outdoor season. The Bobcats' last participated in the Al Manuel Northwest Invitational held in Missoula on March 26. The 'Cats are scheduled to appear in three more weekends worth of meets, following the Cat-Griz Dual, prior to the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships.
"It seems like we're still building and getting stronger," said Lyle Weese, Montana State's Dale Kennedy Director of Track and Field. "The dual meet will be a great checkpoint along the way to see where we're at."
The Bobcats hold a stranglehold in the rivalry series as of late.
The women's head-to-head rivalry has been played to even terms through 38 all-time meetings. MSU tied the series at 19-all with a close 85.5-83.5 win in Missoula last season. The Bobcat women have won three straight duals over the Griz and have claimed six of the last seven matchups between the two sides.
MSU's men's squad has won seven consecutive duals over Montana and nine of the last 10 meetings. However, the Griz hold the historical lead with a 55-31 edge.
"It was really nice to have a week off form competition and get back to some training," Weese said. "We've now had a chance to get ready for our dual against Montana. The dual has a lot of great history and incredible marks that have been set at it over the years. We're looking forward to dual-meet competition."
The Cat-Griz Dual will not have a live stream but live results will be available on AthleticLive. The meet schedule can be found on the schedule page at msubobcats.com.
