Briggs Paces Bobcats in Final Round of Big Sky Golf Championship

The Montana State golf team completed the Big Sky Championship and wrapped up the 2021-22 season following day three of the tournament.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Montana State golf team completed the Big Sky Championship on Wednesday and wrapped up its 2021-22 season following the third round of the tournament. The Bobcats finished in ninth out of 11 in the team standings at Talking Stick Resort Golf Club.
Montana State closed out the tournament with 312 strokes in the third round of action. The Bobcats' three-day total of 918 (304-302-312) placed them ahead of Idaho State (919) and Portland State (921). Northern Arizona won the team title at 8-over-par 872 following 54 holes.
Freshman Jordan Briggs led the Bobcats in the final round shooting 3-over-par 75. She finished the tournament tied for 25th with 228 strokes. Freshman teammate Cora Rosanova recorded the lowest overall score for Montana State firing a 10-over 226. She shot a 78 in the final round and finished tied for 21st.
Kameryn Basye also shot a 78 in the final round and tied for 25th overall with a 228. In the second round, Basye led the Bobcats by carding 1-under 71. Hannah Rosanova finished the third round by recording an 81. She placed tied for 44th by coming in with a 236. Lucia Prieto Romano (253) completed the final round with an 81 and eventually took 55th.
"It wasn't the finish we wanted after having two good team scores, but that's how it goes," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "Jordan had a great round today and finished strong. This was Cora and Jordan's first conference and they both performed well. I'm glad they got this experience and still have three more years. Hannah battled the back nine today with a string of pars after a rocky start, so she fought back which was good to see. Kameryn had a rough tournament, but the 71 in the second round was great golf. The ladies all battled this week. They gained some experience and we will be back and ready for the fall schedule.
"Having coach Joey Lovell was a huge asset to us this season," stated Basye. "His knowledge, experience and enthusiasm is contagious. I am looking forward to the fall golf and getting back to Talking Stick next spring."
