An inside look at Bobcat golfer Jordan Briggs
The Montana State women's golf team is less than two weeks away from their third tournament of the 2022 spring schedule! In this "get to know" Q and A, we chat with Redshirt Freshman Jordan Briggs.
Hometown: Livermore, California
Favorite Ice cream flavor: Chocolate, Chocolate Chip
Fun fact about you: I've had three hole in ones in my golf career
Favorite musical artist: Billie Eilish
Favorite vacation spot: Maui, HI
Favorite athlete: Tiger Woods, Steph Curry, and Michael Jordan
Favorite TV Show: Friends or The Office
Favorite thing about golf: Golf has always been my escape. If I have anything bad going on in my life or have had a really exciting day and need to calm my nerves, golf has always been a really good escape for me. I think it has helped me grow with my mental health or emotional health.
Favorite course you've ever played on: Kauai Lagoons Golf Course (Lihue, HI)
Why MSU?: I chose MSU because of the positive atmosphere, the amazing people and coaching staff, the athletic department, and lastly, Bozeman is just beautiful so, it was pretty easy.
Favorite restaurant in Bozeman: Montana Ale Works
Did you play any other sports as a kid: Soccer, basketball and track
At what point did you know golf was something you were good at and you wanted to pursue at the next level: I have always been between basketball and golf. I loved both sports to death. When I was a sophomore in high school, I realized I wanted to quit playing basketball and pursue golf to get a scholarship. I cried when I gave up basketball. I loved it so much, but I am not disappointed with my decision.
Where have you seen the most growth in yourself since stepping foot at MSU: Mentally for sure. I have always said golf is 10 percent physical and 90 percent mental, so I think in my senior year of high school up till now, that is definitely the part of my game that has seen the most improvement.
What are your goals for the Spring 2022 season: Personally, I want a top 10 or top 25 finish in at least one or two tournaments. For my team goals, for us to get a score of 300 or below at a tournament.
