Individual Match Play Winners Highlight MSU's Opening Day in California

Kameryn Basye and Hannah Rosanova each recorded a victory in match play competition on Monday
PALM DESERT, Calif. - The Montana State golf team fell short in the first and second rounds of the Mountain Classic Match Play as the Bobcats lost consecutive matchups 3-1-1 to (2) Boise State and (3) Utah Valley on Monday at the Classic Club.
In the Quarterfinals, Kameryn Basye took a 2-up win over Boise State's Lexi Perry. Basye led by one heading into the final hole and topped Perry by a a stroke, 5-6, to claim a victory. Sofia Rodriguez Todd had a back-and-forth match that ultimately ended in a tie with Boise State"s Nicole Suppelsa. Hannah Rosanova lost to Emma Yang 4&3, Cora Rosanova lost to Elli Gordan 5&4, and Jordan Briggs fell to Franca Polla 7&6.
In the Semifinal round, the Bobcats again had one individual winning and a tie in head-to-head matchups. Hannah Rosanova beat Utah Valley's Lauren Taylor 7&4, while Cora Rosanova tied with Utah Valley's Victoria Estrada. Basye was in the midst of a competitive match with Utah Valley's Leighton Shosted, but the Wolverine eventually won 2-up. Rodriguez Todd and Briggs came up short in their matches as each dropped 5&4 contests.
Montana State continues play at the Mountain Classic Match Play on Tuesday morning. The Bobcats will tee off at 7 a.m. against CSU Bakersfield.
