Cats Begin Three Game Road Swing

Montana State begins a stretch of three consecutive road games beginning at San Jose State on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. (MT) at Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose, Calif.

Following its contest with the Spartans, the Bobcats will fly to Dallas, Texas, where it will play in the University of North Texas Thanksgiving Tournament. MSU opens tournament play on Friday against Abilene Christian at 4 p.m. (MT) and will conclude play against UNT on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be played at The Super Pit in Denton, Texas on the Mean Green campus.
IT'S BEEN A MINUTE: Montana State and San Jose State will meet for the fourth time on Tuesday night, with the Spartans holding a 2-1 edge in the all-time series. The two schools last met almost 22 years ago- a 53-50 decision in favor of SJSU.
BOBCAT BITES: Leia Beattie was named Bobcat Player of the Week for her efforts as Montana State faced Arizona State and North Dakota, last week in Worthington Arena. The junior from Midland, Texas averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 40.9% from the field and 75% from the line. Beattie had her best outing against North Dakota with 14 points, connecting on 6-of-11 from the field.
THE SCOUTING REPORT: San Jose State is 1-2 heading into Tuesday night's contest with the Bobcats. The Spartans are coming off a 48-42 win at Cal State Northridge on Sunday afternoon. Against the Matadors, San Jose State was led by Sidney Richards and Jada Holland with 14 and 13 points, respectively. As a unit, SJUS shot 27.9% from the field, 27.6% from long distance and were six-of-11 at the line. Defensively, the Spartans were led by Marisa Davis-Jones and Amhyia Moreland with nine and eight rebounds, respectively. On the season, Holland, a 5-6 senior guard from Pleasanton, Calif., leads the Spartans averaging 13.3 points per game. Davis-Jones, a 6-1 sophomore forward from Surprise, Ariz., guided San Jose State averaging 9.3 boards per contest. The Spartans, who dropped their first two games - Tulsa (74-44) and Cal State Fullerton (71-63) - are led by April Phillips, who is in her first season with the SJSU program. Phillips previously served as an assistant at Texas for one season. She has also had coaching stops at Cal, Arizona, Loyola Marymount, Georgia Tech, and New Haven. A Long Beach, Calif., native, Phillips played one season at Georgia Tech, before finishing out her career at Xavier.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Over the past 10 seasons the Bobcats have thrived in the warm confines of Worthington Arena. Since the 2012-13 season, Montana State has gone an impressive 106-31 (77.4%) overall and 72-22 (76.6%) in Big Sky Conference play on its home court. During that span - from the start of the 2015-16 Big Sky season to the beginning of the 2017-18 league play- MSU rattled off a 19-game home court win streak in Big Sky action. Overall, in her 17 seasons at Montana State, Binford 153-71 (68.3%) and 102-47 (68.5%) in Big Sky play in Worthington Arena.
