BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State track and field season kicks into high gear on Friday when the Bobcat Challenge gets started at 1 p.m. inside Worthington Arena. The Bobcats host Carroll College, Montana Tech, MSU Billings, Providence and Rocky Mountain in the opening indoor meet of 2022.
"I think it'll be a great meet to get back into a competitive mindset," said Lyle Weese, Montana State's Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field. "After going through the holiday break, it's nice to have everybody back and get out there in a meet and see where they're at."
Montana State began its 2021-22 indoor season on Dec. 3 with the Bobcat Preview. The 'Cats are set to host a total of four indoor meets with the Bobcat Performance Meet (Jan. 21) and Big Sky Preview (Feb. 11) set to take place in Bozeman. Two Bobcats in Lucy Corbett and Colby Wilson earned Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week honors for their performance in MSU's first meet of the season.
The Bobcats travel to Pullman, Wash., for a set of Washington State-hosted events from Feb. 4-5 in their lone meet on the road during the indoor regular season. MSU serves as host of the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships from Feb. 24-26. The 'Cats were recently picked in the preseason coaches' polls to finish second and fourth, respectively, in the men's and women's Big Sky Championship standings.
A full slate is scheduled for the Bobcat Challenge on Friday with field events starting at 1 p.m. and track events beginning at 2 p.m. The meet also includes a multis portion with the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon taking place over a two-day span. The multis start at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the final three events on the heptathlon extending to Friday and starting at 10 a.m.
Admission is free to all of Montana State's indoor track and field meets prior to the Big Sky Conference Championships. There will be no live stream available for the Bobcat Challenge. Live results for the meet can be found at msubobcats.com/trackresults.
