GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Kameryn Basye and Annika Danenhauer completed strong rounds to lead Montana State through the first 18 holes of the Bobcat Desert Classic on Monday, April 12, at the Golf Club of Estrella.
Basye fired a 2-over-par 74 to tie her second best 18-hole score of her Bobcat career. She had a team-high three birdies on Monday. Danehauer recorded her best single round score in her two years at Montana State by tallying a 75. Basye is currently tied for 19th overall and Danenhauer is in a tie for 28th.
The two Bobcats helped lead MSU to its second-best team round of the 2021 spring. MSU fired a 314 and is in 11th place.
"Annika and Kameryn stayed solid for 18 holes," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We had some good things going from all five today and then some of them started doubting their swings. Golf is an individual game, but we need four scores as a team. We've still got tomorrow to put a good team round together."
Rounding out the Bobcats' lineup were Hannah Rosanova, Hailey Oster and Sofia Rodriguez Todd. Rosanova (82) is tied for 63rd, Oster (83) is tied for 65th and Rodriguez Todd (85) is tied for 67th.
Gonzaga and Cal Baptist sit atop the team leaderboard with matching scores of 1-under 287. Sitting atop the individual standings is Sofia Chabon of Cal Baptist with her score of 5-under 67.
The tournament field tees off the final round of the Bobcat Desert Classic at 8:30 a.m. MDT in Goodyear on Tuesday.
