BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State shot nearly 60% from the field and all 15 players available got into the rotation in a 124-73 victory over SAGU American Indian College on Wednesday, Dec. 22, in Worthington Arena. The 124 points were a program record for the Montana State men's team as the Bobcats closed their non-conference slate with a 9-4 overall record.
The Bobcats had six players finish in double figures scoring and were led by Nick Gazelas and Great Osobor as each scored 18 and 16 points, respectively. The two recorded career highs as Gazelas knocked down six 3-pointers and Osobor went 5-for-6 shooting and 6 of 8 at the free throw line.
Xavier Bishop scored 10 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists as the Bobcat senior guard registered his first double-double of his college tenure. Scoring in double digits for the first time in their college careers were Patrick McMahon (10) and Mareng Gatkuoth (10).
As a team, MSU had a season-high 12 steals with Osobor recording four. The Bobcats' 33 assists were the fifth most in a single game by the program while the squad's 18 3-pointers tied for the second most ever.
"Obviously we shot the ball well," Montana State head coach Danny Sprinkle said. "The guys played unselfish and that's all we asked of them tonight. It was one of those games that was good to have before Christmas. We got a lot of guys in and there wasn't a selfish guy on the team tonight which was important."
The Bobcats return to action on Thursday, Dec. 30 when Montana State hosts Big Sky Conference-leading Weber State at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, while fans can also tune into the Bobcat Radio Network locally or on msubobcats.com/watch and on the Varsity Network app.
"They're probably the most talented team in the league," Sprinkle said of Weber State. "We're going to have to get better before then. Hopefully the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse is packed that game, it should be a heavyweight fight."
