Delaney Elliott, Kelly Hooper and Coral Schulz were MSU's top scorers in Hawaii
KANE'OHE, Hawaii – Montana State golf's three seniors in its lineup each carded 70s during final round action as the Bobcats completed play at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Wednesday, March 11, at Kane'hoe Klipper Golf Course.
Kelly Hooper fired MSU's lowest score in the third round Wednesday with her 77. She was followed by Delaney Elliott's 78 and Coral Schulz's 79. The Bobcat seniors led MSU's lineup. Elliott tied for 44th at 12-over-par 228, while Hooper and Schulz each carded a 234 to tie for 62nd overall.
Sophomores Sofia Rodriguez Todd and Lucia Prieto Romano rounded out the Bobcats' lineup. Rodriguez Todd finished 83rd with 243 strokes. Prieto Romano took 85th with 245.
"We are grateful for the experience to be able to play this course, be in Hawaii and be a part of this great field," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We need to take a look at certain shots and how we can improve on those. Being aware of hole locations and landing areas is a must for us to work on at each tournament. We'll need the weather to improve (in Montana) the next couple weeks so we can get outside."
The Bobcats moved up a spot in the team standings on Wednesday to take 14th overall with a two-day score of 934. Arizona State, the third ranked team in Division I golf, totaled an 852. The Sun Devils' Linn Grant won in a playoff and went into it at 7-under-par 209.
Montana State is scheduled to make its next tournament appearance on March 30 when the Bobcats are set to participate in the Fresno State Classic.
