The Montana State golf team will participate in its third tournament of its 2019-20 season when the Bobcats compete in the Rose City Collegiate starting on Monday, Sept. 30. This will be the third consecutive season the Bobcats have taken part in the event hosted by Portland State at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore.
"It's our third tournament of the year at a good golf course with some good teams competing in it,' MSU head coach Brittany Basye said. "I'd like for us to have a better tournament than last time out. They need to be ready to play this golf course because it's a challenge, but it's also a fun course to play at."
The Bobcats followed a strong team outing at the Battle at Old Works with a tough appearance at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic to open this year's schedule. The Montana State lineup features a few new faces when the squad tees off on Monday.
Seniors Kelly Hooper and Delaney Elliott hold MSU's top two spots. Lucia Prieto Romano, Hannah Rosanova and Lilly Navarre will also be part of the Bobcat scoring lineup. Coral Schulz will be playing in the tournament as an individual.
The tournament field features 12 teams and 71 players. The course features a par 72, 6,146 yard layout. The field consists of Big Sky teams which include PSU, Northern Colorado, Eastern Sashington, Idaho State, Weber State and Montana.
Montana State will look to top its previous efforts at the Rose City Collegiate. The Bobcats have finished seventh in the team standings in their last two outings at Langdon Farms.
"All of our girls have been to this course except Hannah," Basye said. "I expect them all to know how to play there, they should just go out and play the way they know how to. We need to start quickly and have three good rounds and not wait until the final round to play well."
Live scoring at the Rose City Collegiate is available on Golfstat.com. The first day of action will feature two rounds of play with the shotgun start set for 9:30 a.m. MST. Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m.
