MSU’s McCarthy Captures RMISA/NCAA West Regional Slalom Title

The Bobcat All-American posted a two-run total of 1:51.06.
GIRDWOOD, Alaska – Fresh off her slalom title at the University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational on Saturday, Montana State standout Jocelyn McCarthy kept the momentum going, winning the 70th Annual Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/NCAA West Regional Championship slalom crown, late Sunday afternoon at Alyeska Ski Area.
The Bobcat All-American posted a two-run total of 1:51.06. The product of Edmonton, Alberta, registered the third fastest opening run (55.08) and stayed consistent with the fourth best second-go (55.98) to win her first ever RMISA title.
MSU's Mia Henry finished 23rd in a clocking of 2:15.43.
Åge Solheim paced the Bobcat men's team finishing seventh with a two-run total of 1:45.50. He was followed by Morten Bakke, 14th, 1:45.94, and Florian Szwebel, 23rd, 1:48.15. Bakke's 51.32 second run was the fastest of the day.
Denver's Simon Fournier won the men's slalom event in 1:44.12.
Utah won the RMISA/NCAA West Regional title racking up 671 points. The Utes were followed by Colorado 609, New Mexico 523, UAA 511, Denver 436, MSU 423, Alaska Fairbanks 182, Westminster 135, and Colorado Mountain 49.
MSU will compete at the NCAA Championships March 6-9 in Stowe, Vermont.
