BOBCATS OPEN 2019-20 ROAD SLATE AT SOUTH DAKOTA STATE

Montana State will take its first road trip of the 2019-20 campaign when it heads to the Upper-Midwest for a pair of games against formidable foes. The Bobcats will face South Dakota State, Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. (MT) in Brookings, S.D. and the University of Minnesota, Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. (MT) in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Jackrabbits are currently ranked No. 13 on the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll, while the Golden Gophers are receiving votes (13) in the Associated Press Top 25 ranking.
SERIES NOTE: Montana State and South Dakota State have met just once with the Jackrabbits winning an 88-67 decision in Bozeman on Dec. 18, 2018. SDSU was led in the win by Madison Guebert and Tylee Irwin with 18 points, apiece, while Myah Selland and Macy Miller chipped in 17 and 13 points, respectively. The Bobcats were paced by Claire Lundberg with 24 points, while Madeline Smith added nine points and a team-high six rebounds. For the game, South Dakota State shot 62.3% from the field, 47.6% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the line. MSU went 45.3% from the floor, 32% from long distance and 68.8% from the stripe. The Cats out-rebounded SDSU 27-24.
HIGH FIVE: 1) Montana State faces six teams that posted 20-wins last year, along with two that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, three that finished ranked in the final USA Today/WBCA Coaches Top 25 poll and three that won their conference championship. 2) Oliana Squires, who garnered all-Big Sky Conference Third-Team accolades last winter, returns as Montana State's leading scorer at 11.4 points per game. In addition, she led the Big Sky in league games shooting 94 percent from the free throw line. 3) Tricia Binford, who enters her 15th season at the helm of the Bobcat program, will enjoy one of the biggest and most experienced senior classes in her tenure at MSU. Three-year starters Oliana Squires, Blaire Braxton and Madeline Smith will be joined by Martha Kuderer, who started in 27 games last winter after transferring from Seton Hall, and Fallyn Freije, who sat out last season under NCAA transfer rules. 4) Although she didn't play last season, Fallyn Freije is a familiar name in the Big Sky. The Edmore, N.D., played three seasons at North Dakota before transferring to MSU. Freije is a two-time all-Big Sky honorable mention selection and averaged 13.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game as a junior. 5) Montana State, who went 16-15 overall and 11-9 in Big Sky play last winter, has not had a losing season since 2006-07.
THE STREAK: As a team, Montana State has recorded at least one three-pointer in the last 200 consecutive games. The last time the Bobcats were held without a three-pointer was Jan. 24, 2013 (0-9) at Weber State. MSU set a single-season record of 311 triples during the 2017-18 season.
OUT OF THE GATE: Montana State's 3-0 start is its best since opening the 2015-16 season with three straight wins- Seattle U, Nevada and Portland.
