The Montana State golf team prepares for its final event of the fall as the Bobcats head to Missoula to compete in the Griz Match Play Challenge beginning on Friday. MSU along with host Montana, Eastern Washington and Idaho State, compete in the two-day match play event at Missoula Country Club.
"The girls are looking forward to it because it's match play and not stroke play," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "Match play brings out a little bit more competitiveness and it's a lot of risk-reward golf. It'll be a fun way to the end the fall playing in this style of tournament against these other Big Sky teams."
Montana State will face off against Montana with the first of eight pairings teeing off on hole one at 9 a.m. Friday. Eastern Washington and Idaho State will begin their matchup on hole 10. Each team's top five players will count towards the team result at the end of the day. Friday's winners will play against each other for the Challenge title honors on Saturday starting from hole one, while the non-winners will start at hole 10.
This weekend's meet will be the final event for the Bobcat golf team this fall. Montana State is scheduled to appear in five tournaments in the spring ahead of the Big Sky Conference Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz., on April 20.
