Hooper, Tait Selected to Big Sky Golf All-Conference Teams

Montana State senior Jaylee Tait and sophomore Kelly Hooper were among the selections to the 2018 Big Sky Women's Golf All-Conference Teams announced on Thursday
OGDEN, Utah – Montana State senior Jaylee Tait and sophomore Kelly Hooper were among the selections to the 2018 Big Sky Women's Golf All-Conference Teams announced on Thursday, April 19, by the league.
Hooper was named to the conference's Third Team after leading the Bobcats throughout the 2017-18 season.
The Spokane, Wash., native has accumulated a 75-stroke scoring average through 27 rounds during her sophomore campaign. That mark would currently establish a new program record for a season, moving ahead of Tait's 76.00 average set a year ago and Janelle Reali's 76.32 average achieved during the 2014-15 season.
Hooper has finished in the top 20 in the individual standings in six of the nine events she's competed in this season. She's also placed in the top 10 on three occasions, including an individual title at the Grand Canyon Invitational on Feb. 25, which was the first of her collegiate career and first by a Bobcat since 2013.
Tait earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season with her selection as an Honorable Mention.
The Littleton, Colo., native was Montana State's second-best scorer with a career-best 75.38 scoring average per round in eight events overall as a senior. Tait heads into her final Big Sky Championship as MSU's most consistent golfer. She's finished in the top 20 six times and no higher than 35th in the individual standings of any tournament this year.
Idaho's Sophie Hasmann was named the Big Sky Player of the Year and Sacramento State's Corrine Viden earned Freshman of the Year honors. The Big Sky All-Conference teams and awards were selected following the conclusion of the regular season, using a points system based on the Golfstat National Ranking, the Golfweek National Ranking and the adjusted score to par provided by Golfstat.
