Montana State Golf Receives Third NLI Ahead of 2018-19 Season

While the Montana State golf team prepares for the Big Sky Conference Championship in exactly one week, the Bobcats continued their preparation for the upcoming fall. MSU head coach Brittany Basye announced on Friday, April 13, that Lucia Prieto Romano has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Bobcats for the 2018-19 season
BOZEMAN, Mont. – While the Montana State golf team prepares for the Big Sky Conference Championship in exactly one week, the Bobcats continued their preparation for the upcoming fall. MSU head coach Brittany Basye announced on Friday, April 13, that Lucia Prieto Romano has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Bobcats for the 2018-19 season.
A native of Seville, Spain, Prieto Romano is the daughter of Spanish Women's National team golf coach Marcelo Prieto. She has extensive experience on the Spanish amateur circuit and has won three tournaments during her golf career. She fired a career-low round of 70 this past fall and has one hole-in-one that she made when was a 15-year-old.
Her scoring average currently as a 17-year old is 76.82 strokes per round.
"She's going to bring experience which is going to add depth to our team that we need and she plays a ton of golf," Basye said. "She's played in some great events over the years. She has great fundamentals and a knowledge of the game that comes from her family that is needed for us."
Prieto Romano currently attends The British School of Seville. She's been the president of her School Council for two years and has earned Best Student of the Year in physics honors. Prieto Romano also has spent time volunteering at charity golf tournaments and for the organization Race Against Hunger. She plans on majoring in engineering at Montana State University.
Prieto Romano joins two other newcomers to the Montana State golf roster for the fall semester. Prieto Romano, along with Hailey Oster and Sofia Todd Rodriguez, will all enter the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year as freshmen at Montana State.
"I think adding Lucia will make us more competitive as a team," Basye said. "The girls are going to have to earn their spots. They're all going to make each other better. We've got great kids right now and we're bringing in more great kids. Lucia is going to fit right in with the team, just like the other kids we have coming in, so I'm excited to see this group come together in the fall."
