Senior Day: Cats Close out Home Season Against Eastern Washington

The Montana State women’s basketball team will conclude its 2017-18 home slate on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. when it hosts Eastern Washington in Worthington Arena. The Bobcats will celebrate and say goodbye to three seniors, including Hannah Caudill, Delany Junkermier and Rebekah Hatchard.

ON A SERIES NOTE: Montana State holds a slim 43-42 lead in its all-time series vs. Eastern Washington. The Cats defeated the Eagles three times last season, defeating EWU in Cheney 88-83 in overtime; 72-61 in Bozeman; and 61-59 on an Annika Lai layin with three-seconds remaining in the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament on March 10 in Reno. The win propelled the Bobcats into the league title game - a win over Idaho State - and its first NCAA appearance in 24 years. MSU's last loss to Eastern Washington (81-69) was on Jan. 21, 2016 in Cheney.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Cats saw the nation's second longest home court win streak snapped against Portland State on Jan. 11. The loss broke MSU's 31-game home streak, which was second to national power UConn (76). Before the loss to the Vikings, Montana State's last defeat in Worthington Arena was a 62-49 decision to San Diego on Nov. 24, 2015. MSU has won 34 of its last 37 games in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. On another note, the Cats are averaging 2,423 fans per game, which ranks 53rd in the nation and second in the Big Sky Conference.
THE NITTY GRITTY: According to the Feb. 15, 2018 NCAA Nitty-Gritty rankings the Bobcats are currently ranked #241 in the country. The highest Big Sky Conference listing belongs to Northern Colorado at #34. The Bears are followed by #121 Portland State, #134 Idaho, #155 Idaho State, #162 North Dakota, #163 Eastern Washington and #173 Weber State. Ranked behind Montana State is #245 Montana, #272 Sacramento State, #315 Northern Arizona and #327 Southern Utah. The Bobcats finished the 2016-17 season ranked #59 - its highest finish ever.
A HELPING HAND: Senior Hannah Caudill set the all-time mark for career assists when she dished out eight in MSU's win over North Dakota on Feb. 1. The Spokane, Wash., product now has 472 career assists, which surpassed the old mark of 443 set by Vicki Heebner-Carle from 1980-84.
THE EAGLES ON THURSDAY NIGHT: For only the fifth time in program history, the Eastern Washington topped the Montana on the road in Missoula. The win marked head coach Wendy Schuller's 250th career victory at Eastern. The Eagles led by as many as 14 points in the first quarter, but hung on to a 75-72 victory that was close until the final seconds. Eastern Washington was led by three in double figures in Delaney Hodgins (24), Symone Starks (15) and Violet Kapri Morrow (14). Uriah Howard added nine points, while Hodgins grabbed seven rebounds.
