Sofia Rodriguez Todd had her best 54-hole tournament as a Bobcat as MSU golf completed its fall schedule on Tuesday
TACOMA, Wash. – The Montana State golf team completed play at the Pat Lessor Harbottle Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in 16th place. Freshman Sofia Rodriguez Todd finished tied for 49th to pace MSU at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club over three rounds.
"We worked on mentally being tougher on the golf course and it showed in the lower scores today," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "Sofia had a nice showing for her first time playing in our five-person lineup."
After ending Monday's second round with a 325, the Bobcats carded a 310 as a team during the final 18 holes of action Tuesday. MSU wrapped its final tournament of the fall portion of its schedule with 945 strokes. Santa Clara won the team title with a team score of 891.
Rodriguez Todd shot a 4-over-par 76 to complete play at 234 strokes. It was her best 54-hole tournament score this season.
Juniors Delaney Elliott, Coral Schulz and Kelly Hooper all completed the Invitational in a tie for 64th at 237. Hooper fired a 76, Schulz followed with a 77 and Elliott carded an 81 on Tuesday. Freshman Hailey Oster rounded out the Bobcats' team appearance by recording her best round of the tournament Tuesday with an 81. She finished with a 257 through 54 holes.
"As the fall season ends with tournaments, we have some things to work on over the offseason," Basye said. "We still need to get better on our 36-hole days and grind through 10 hours of golf mentally and physically. We have some work to do between now and the spring season."
Montana State golf returns to play in the spring. The Bobcats make their next appearance on Feb. 11, 2019, when they tee off at the Battle at the Rock in Riverside, Calif.
