Consistent Lineups Lead to Strong MSU Finishes at Pre-National Invitational

Montana State’s cross country teams were again led by their frontrunners as the Bobcats wrapped up action at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Zimmer Championship Course
MADISON, Wis. – Montana State's cross country teams were again led by their frontrunners as the Bobcats wrapped up action at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Zimmer Championship Course. The Bobcat men's team finished 19th out of 34 teams in the White 8-Kilomer Race, while the women's squad placed 21st of 35 in its Cardinal 6K race.
Redshirt junior Ty Mogan paced the men's team by taking 32nd overall with a time of 24 minutes, 19.9 seconds. It was the third time this season Mogan has served as the Bobcats' top finisher.
Collin Buck finished 81st with a time of 24:19.9. Duncan Hamilton (25:08.0) placed 108th and Cooper West (25:10.6) took 115th as part of MSU's scoring lineup. Rounding out the fifth scoring spot was Riley Collins who finished 158th with a time of 25:43.2.
Isaac Schmidt (25:50.3) placed 165th and Braden Stremcha (25:55.1) took 170th to complete the Bobcat contingent. MSU scored 494 points in the Men's 8K White Race. BYU took first with 29 points and was followed by Washington which scored 106.
Senior Kelsi Lasota and sophomore Samantha Kelderman finished 68th and 70th overall, respectively, to lead the Bobcat women's team. Lasota completed the race in a time of 21:23.0 and Kelderman was right behind her with a mark of 21:24.4.
Gillian Maness placed 82nd by crossing the line in 21:33.5. Closing out the MSU scoring lineup were Layne Oliver (22:15.2) and Trisha Carlson (22:31.6) who finished 147th and 169th, respectively. Joby Rosenleaf placed 188th behind a time of 22:42.2 and Kendra Larson placed 222nd with a mark of 23:40.8.
The Bobcats scored 536 points as a team. Arkansas won the Women's Cardinal 6K Race with 51 points and the Oregon Ducks took second with 71.
MSU is slated to next head to Sacramento, Calif., to participate in the 2018 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships. The Bobcats will compete at Higgins Oaks Golf Course on Oct. 27.
