AURORA, Ore. – The Bobcats closed out the third round of the Rose City Collegiate Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Langdon Farms Golf Club by carding a 305. The Montana State women's golf team tied for seventh out of 14 teams with a two-day total of 898 (304-289-305).
"Our confidence was lacking today," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We missed some good, makeable putts and then started second guessing ourselves. We have to fight through the very last putt and not over think. We hit the same club, same putts and if we doubt ourselves, the mental game changes. We need to keep working on that."
Senior Jaylee Tait led MSU on Tuesday by shooting a 2-over-par 74, sophomore Delaney Elliott fired a 3-over 75 and sophomore Lilly Navarre followed with a 4-over 76.
Rounding out the Bobcats' scoring lineup was junior Clare Dittemore who shot an 80. Sophomore Kelly Hooper shot a third-round 81, while Coral Schulz completed her individual appearance at the meet with a 6-over 78.
Elliott and Schulz had MSU's two highest overall showings. The two Bobcats tied for 19th at 7-over (223).
Tait finished in a tie for 34th at 11-over (227) while Hooper and Dittemore each accumulated 229 strokes over three rounds. Navarre rounded out the Bobcat contingent with a 230.
"Overall, not a bad showing," Basye said. "But, we will work hard in October and be ready to get back this spring. I've seen some great things from all six players, we just need to keep building on them."
The Bobcats completed their third and final meet of the 2017 portion of their 2017-18 schedule Tuesday. MSU returns to action in the spring by traveling to Riverside, Calif., for the Battle at the Rock from Feb. 12-13.
