Hooper Places Fourth at WSGA Amateur Championship

Rising sophomore Kelly Hooper puts together three solid rounds to finish among best at state amateur championship
DuPONT, Wash. -- Montana State's Kelly Hooper sat among the leaders throughout tournament play and eventually finished fourth at the Washington State Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship, as the tournament wrapped up on Thursday, June 29, at The Home Course.
The Spokane, Wash., native was in third after the first round Tuesday behind her impressive 2-under-par 70. Hooper racked up three birdies and a single bogey to sit among the leaders after the first 18 holes.
Hooper jumped to second place after 36 holes thanks to a 1-over 73 during second round action, putting her one shot behind leader Julianne Alvarez (142) of the University of Washington.
Hooper, a rising sophomore for the Bobcats, concluded play by firing a 76. She completed the tournament with a three-round 3-over 219, two shots behind third-place finisher Alivia Brown and two shots ahead of two fifth-place finishers. Alvarez won the individual title by shooting 6-under-par (210).
