Montana State Golf's Dittemore Narrowly Falls in State Amateur Quarterfinals

Rising junior Clare Dittemore won her first two match play contests and nearly made a comeback in the quarterfinals Saturday
Montana State rising junior Clare Dittemore won her first two match play contests and nearly made a comeback in her quarterfinal appearance, but was knocked out of the 108th Oregon Women's Golf Amateur Championship Saturday at The Oregon Golf Club just outside of Portland.
Dittemore won her opening contest Thursday, as the No. 10 seed topped 23rd-seed Kailin Downs 2 and 1. The MSU golfer advanced to the Round of 16 where she soundly defeated No. 7 seed Hailey Ostrom 6 and 5 Friday to move into the quarterfinals.
Dittemore was matched up against the second seed, Amanda Elich, who tied for the top score among the Amateur Championship field during the stroke play portion of the tournament.
Elich took a two-hole lead after the first three holes and moved as high as 3 up on two occasions over Dittemore. The Bobcat golfer mounted a comeback by winning holes 15 and 16 to drop the lead to one with two holes remaining. However, the pair traded pars on holes 17 and 18 to complete the match with Elich up 1.
