MSU Track and Field’s Lewis Picks up Big Sky Weekly Accolades

Alex Lewis leapt to second all-time in the long jump to earn weekly honors from the Big Sky Conference
OGDEN, Utah – Montana State's Alex Lewis was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday, May 8.
Lewis leapt to second all-time in program history in the long jump as the Bobcats wrapped up the regular season in Bozeman at the Tom Gage Classic Friday.
The Moscow, Idaho, native finished with a jump of 24-05.50 (7.50m), three inches farther than his previous lifetime best. It moved him from third to second in the program's all-time rankings in the event, passing Jim Tilmann's mark of 24-03.75 that he set in 1968. Lewis's newest personal mark trails Marty Ogg's school record long jump of 24-11.00 that he set in 1979.
Lewis is currently fifth on the Big Sky Conference performance list and is within 6.5 inches of the Big Sky leader. He also sits 48th in the West Region Rankings. Lewis joins Kyle Douglass on the Bobcats' men's team to have been honored by the Big Sky with weekly honors this outdoor season.
The Bobcats head west for the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Sacramento State at its home track beginning on Wednesday.
