Montana State’s Tait Earns All-Big Sky Third Team Honors

Jaylee Tait is recognized by the Big Sky Conference for her efforts during the 2016-17 season
OGDEN, Utah – Montana State junior Jaylee Tait was recognized by the Big Sky Conference as a selection to the women's golf all-conference team, the league announced Monday.
Tait was named to the All-Big Sky Third Team for her efforts. She led MSU during the 2016-17 regular season with her scoring average of 75.42 and competed in all nine events the Bobcats participated in. Tait completed a season-best third-place finish at the SCU Colby Invitational, which ran from Oct. 31-Nov. 1, and earned Big Sky Golfer of the Week in the process.
Serving as the Bobcats' No. 1 player in the lineup for a majority of the season, Tait had four top-10 finishes during the year and finished in the top 20 in more than half of the team's meets. She fired four rounds at even or under-par throughout the duration of the campaign and also finished a season-best 1-over-par at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational on March 17.
Tait previously earned all-conference honors as a sophomore by finishing tied for third at the 2016 Big Sky Conference Championship.
The Big Sky Conference used a new system to determine the all-conference list in 2016-17, using rankings. The teams and awards were selected following the conclusion of the regular season, using a points system based on the Golfstat National Ranking, the Golf Week National Ranking and the adjusted score to par provided by Golfstat.
The five lowest point totals were named to the First Team, the next five lowest were named to the Second Team, the next five lowest were named to the Third Team and five more were named Honorable Mention. The player who posted the lowest score earned Player of the Year honors, while the freshman player who posted the lowest score earned the Freshman of the Year honors.
Montana State returns to action by heading to Boulder City, Nev., for the 2017 Big Sky Conference Championship beginning on Friday, April 21.
