Kyle Douglass Picks up Big Sky Field Athlete of the Week Accolades

Track and field's Kyle Douglass had a big weekend in California, which included improving his second-best mark in program history in the discus, en route to earning Big Sky weekly honors
OGDEN, Utah – Montana State track and field junior Kyle Douglass was selected Monday, April 17, by the Big Sky Conference as its Men's Field Athlete of the Week. It's his second weekly honor from the Big Sky this year, previously earning the award during the indoor season.
Douglass had a solid showing across four separate meets in three days for the Bobcats in California this past weekend.
The Missoula native jumped to the top of the Big Sky performance list in the discus with his throw of 184-04 (56.18) at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on Thursday. That toss improved his second-best mark on the MSU all-time list in the event while he finished sixth overall. His discus throw jumped him to 13th in the West Region rankings and 28th nationally. That same meet, he competed in the shot put and placed fourth with a throw of 56-10 (17.32m).
Douglass also participated in the Bryan Clay Invitational, Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays. He finished second overall in the discus at the Bryan Clay Invite Friday, then competed in the remaining two meets Saturday which included his seventh-place showing in the Discus Elite Invitational at the Relays with his throw of 183-07 (55.82m).
The Bobcat track and field teams head into the first of three meets in Montana to end the regular season. MSU travels to Missoula for the Cat-Griz Dual Meet next on Saturday, April 22.
