Jaylee Tait and Janelle Reali led Montana State through the first two rounds of play in Sedona
SEDONA, Ariz. – Junior Jaylee Tait completed a round under par and senior Janelle Reali shot back-to-back rounds of 75 to lead the Montana State women's golf team Saturday, March 4, following the first 36 holes of the Red Rocks Invitational at Oakcreek Country Club.
The Bobcats sit in eighth place with a two-round score of 611. Toledo leads the team standings after shooting a 586 Tuesday, while host Northern Arizona is in second at 593.
MSU shot 311 in its opening round but improved 11 strokes in its next 18 holes to remain just seven back of jumping three spots in the standings.
Tait fired a 73 in the first round then shot a 1-under 71 in the second, putting her in fourth with an even-par 144. Reali moved up four spots from round 1 to round 2 and is currently tied for 18th with a 6-over 150.
Freshman Kelly Hooper improved during the day from a tie for 36th to tie for 24th by shooting a 78 to start, then improving to 74 in the second round for an 8-over 152.
Freshman Coral Schulz is in a tie for 65th (166) and sophomore Natassja Meredith is in 72nd place (171) to round out MSU's lineup.
MSU freshman Delaney Elliott, competing individually, fired a 79 in her opening round but came back to shoot 73 in her next 18 holes to move into a tie for 24th at 152. Sophomore Clare Dittemore is also competing individually and she shot rounds of 84 and 85 (169).
The Bobcats return to action at the Red Rocks Invite for the final round of play which is set to begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
