Bobcat Women Face Eastern Washington in Big Sky Tournament Semifinals

For the first time since the 2012 Big Sky Conference Tournament the Montana State women’s basketball team has advanced to the semifinal round. The Bobcats will face #4 Eastern Washington, Friday, March 10 at 1:05 p.m. (MST).

The other semifinal game, which will be played following MSU's contest, features #6 Idaho State vs. #7 Portland State. The championship game will be played on Saturday, March 11 at 1:05 p.m. at the Reno Events Center
ON A SERIES NOTE: Montana State and Eastern Washington are squared at 42-42 in its all-time series dating back to the 1976-77 season, following MSU's sweep of the Eagles this winter. Montana State defeated EWU 88-83 in overtime within the confines of Worthington Arena on Jan.5. The Bobcats claimed the season series with a 72-61 win in Cheney on Jan. 26. In it's last 10 meetings the rivals are knotted at 5-5. In Big Sky Tournament history, Eastern Washington holds a 2-1 advantage, with its last win coming in the quarterfinals (68-53) at the 2013 BSC tourney in Missoula.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Bobcats finished its home season with a perfect 13-0 mark. Its current 25-game home winning streak is third longest at the NCAA Division I level, behind UConn 64 and UCLA 27. The 25-game home win streak is a new school-record.
STATE OF THE LEAGUE: The Big Sky is currently ranked 20th out of 32 conferences in the RPI. This week's NCAA Nitty-Gritty team RPI has MSU ranked 74, followed by Northern Colorado 128, North Dakota 129, Eastern Washington 136, Idaho 149, Idaho State 159, Portland State 207, Weber State 235, Sacramento State 285, Southern Utah 290, Northern Arizona 293 and Montana 324.
ON POINT: Montana State's 23 victories are the most since the start of the Big Sky Conference in 1988-89 season...the all-time MSU school-record for wins belongs to the 1987-88 WNIT squad that posted a final 24-6 overall ledger...with nine three-pointers against Weber State on Wednesday, MSU set a new school-record for most three-pointers in a season with 225 triples...the old 3-point makes mark of 218 was held by the 2010-11 team...MSU's last appearance in a Big Sky Conference Tournament championship game (2010) was a 62-58 loss to Portland State in Cheney, Washington...Montana State has been in eight championship games, with its lone win coming in 1993 as it downed Montana 64-57 in Bozeman...MSU advanced to its only NCAA appearance in 1993 against Washington in Seattle...Hannah Caudill's 69 3-pointers this year are the fifth most ever recorded in a single-season at Montana State...Big Sky Conference MVP Peyton Ferris was held to a season-low four points against Weber State on Wednesday...The Bobcats out-rebounded Weber State by +22 on Wednesday, which marked the fifth time this season MSU has out-boarded its opponent by 20 or more caroms...Eastern Washington head coach Wendy Schuller (16 yrs) and MSU's head coach Tricia Binford (12 yrs) are the Dean's of the Big Sky Conference.
