MSU Women Host Wyoming in First Bobcat Basketball School Day

NEXT UP: The Montana State women's basketball team will embark on one of its most challenging weeks of the 2017-18 schedule as it plays four games in six days. The Bobcats will face long-time rival Wyoming on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in Worthington Arena. The game will be MSU's first-ever Bobcat Basketball School Day game. Following its game with the Cowgirls, the Bobcats will fly to Hawaii on Thursday. MSU will compete in the Oregon State/Maui Jim Classic. The Cats open on Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. (MT) against Utah State and finish the classic on Saturday against Nevada- also at 8 p.m. (MT). Montana State will travel to Oahu on Sunday, before facing the University of Hawaii in Manoa on Monday, Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. (MT).
ON A SERIES NOTE: Montana State holds an 11-7 advantage in its all-time series with Wyoming dating back to Jan. 3, 1980 - a 76-68 Bobcat win in Laramie. In Bozeman, the Cats lead the Cowgirls 5-2 all-time. The two squads are 4-4 in Laramie and MSU holds a 2-1 margin at neutral site game. The last meeting between the two schools was Dec. 19, 2015 as Wyoming captured a 75-69 overtime decision in Laramie. MSU's last win in the series was Dec. 6, 2014 as the Bobcats downed the Cowgirls 79-52 in Bozeman. The University of Wyoming has captured four of the last five meetings in the rivalry.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Bobcats finished its 2016-17 home season with a perfect 13-0 mark. Its current 27-game home winning streak is second longest at the NCAA Division I level only behind UConn. The Huskies have won 68 straight. The 27-game home win streak is a Montana State school-record.
THE NITTY GRITTY: The Bobcats finished the 2016-17 season ranked No. 59 in the NCAA's final Nitty Gritty listings. It was the highest a MSU team has ever been ranked. The next closest Big Sky team was Northern Colorado at No. 128.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Madeline Smith is Montana State's Player of the Week for her efforts against MSU Billings on Saturday. Smith scored a career-high 23 points and hauled down 12 rebounds for her second straight double-double as Montana State defeated the Yellowjackets in its only action last week. Smith finished the game shooting 69 percent (11-16) from the field. In addition, she added two blocks, an assist and a steal in 30 minutes of action. On the season, she leads MSU in scoring and rebounding at 14.8 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, respectively. She is also hitting at a 64 percent clip from the field.
WINDEX MOMENT: Against Providence on Nov. 15, sophomore Madeline Smith pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds, which were just two shy of matching the all-time Montana State record of 21 rebounds held by former Bobcat standout, MSU Hall of Famer and WNBA player Cass Bauer. Bauer set the mark of 21 rebounds against the University of Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 1994.
