First-Place Showings, Relays Highlight Bobcat Efforts at MSU Invite

Eight individuals win events in the MSU Invite for the Bobcats
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Eight individuals won events while the Montana State track and field teams swept all four relays completed to highlight the Bobcats' performance during the MSU Invitational on Friday, Jan. 13, inside Worthington Arena.
The Bobcats opened the indoor campaign on a high note with Amanda Jaynes, Jadin Casey, Matthew Gotta, Noah Martin, Luke Middelstadt, Alex Lewis, Kyle Douglass and Calvin Root all placing first in their respective events.
Jaynes achieved a personal-best time of 8.83 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to earn the women's squad's lone individual first-place finish. She also picked up another lifetime best while taking fourth during the night in the 60 dash (7.90).
Two Bobcat men's student-athletes earned personal bests during the Invite.
Junior Luke Middelstadt notched a mark of 15-05.00 in the pole vault for a lifetime best, just topping fellow MSU competitor Austin Decker who placed third with a 15-01.00 vault. Junior Kyle Douglass also topped his all-time best shot put, with an event-best mark of 58-04.50.
Jadin Casey and Christopher Lange finished 1-2 and within a second of each other in the men's 400, with Casey crossing the line in 50.72. Calvin Root won by an impressive margin, winning by more than seven feet with a toss of 59-09.00 in the weight throw. Freshman Noah Martin earned the top high jump mark at 06-08.75 and junior Alex Lewis (22-05.25) took first in the long jump with Caleb Neth (21-08.75) following him in the event in third.
MSU's men's and women's teams both earned the top times in the 4x400 relay and the distance medley relay.
Holly Andersen, Taylor Buschy, Hailey Phillips and McKenna Ramsey (3:56.48) took first in the 4x400 while Kendra Larson, Ramsey, Kimberly Parsell and Christie Schiel (12:04.05) had the fastest mark in the women's medley. Tyler McQueen, Lange, Samuel Bloom and Casey (3:33.11) finished atop the 4x400 on the men's side while Martin Ponce, McQueen, Bloom, and Diego Leon (10:41.32) earned first in the medley relay.
The MSU men's best event came in the 5000. Gotta earned the victory with a 14:39.58 finish. Following him were Leon (14:42.32), Ty Mogan (14:53.91), Zach Kughn (15:16.86) and Adam Wollant (15:33.75) to sweep the first five spots in the event. Gannon Chamberlain and Brock Sandry also placed in the top 10.
Frankie Hoerner picked up a third-place finish, Jared Schwend Aiden Pedersen and Alec Nehring earned fourth-place showings, while Lange and Knox Semenza also wrapped up with a top-five finish for the Bobcats' men's team.
For the Bobcat women, Tayor Buschy in the 200 (26.20), Isabella Calabrese (11-05.75) in the pole vault, Truanne Roginske (36-10.25) in the triple jump and Callen Crawford (54-08.00) in the weight throw all achieved personal bests for second-place, fourth-place and two second-place finishes, respectively.
Daryan Box, Morgan Jones, Carter Theade, and Jacqueline Verlanic all finished among the top three competitors in their respective events on the women's side.
