Bobcats Travel to Missoula for Al Manuel Northwest Dual

Montana State track and field will travel to Missoula for its first road trip of the outdoor season to compete in the Al Manuel Northwest Dual. The Bobcats will compete against Montana, Eastern Washington and Idaho in a two day event.

"This meet has gone emerged from an open competition to a strong quad Big Sky invite over the years," head coach Dale Kennedy. "I'm excited that it's now a scored meet, because our performance levels increase when there are points on the line. We did some good things last weekend, but we had some cobwebs to shake off. We've had a good week of training and are ready to compete with some strong Big Sky schools."

Last weekend, Ty Bermes and Tanner Gambill proved why they deserved the number one and two spots in the conference last season after throwing over 200 feet in the javelin in the first meet of the season. Bermes marked 216-09 feet, while Gambill threw 210-11.

Mitchell Horning won his two events, clocking 11.00 in the 100 and 22.52 in the 200. Kyle Douglass also found two top finishes, winning the shot put with a throw of 54-04.5 and the discus with a 161-09 mark. Zach Sharp and Calvin Root went one-two in the hammer, throwing distances of 188-10 and 182-06.

Christie Schiel, Taylor Buschy and Kendra Larson crossed the finish line in the 800 in the first three spots, recording times of 2:13.49, 2:14.75 and 2:15.51. Alyssa Snyder hit a qualifying mark of 37:22.95 in the 10,000, winning the event.

The men's and women's hammer throw is set to take place on Friday beginning with the women's at 3 p.m. The remainder of the meet will begin Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Dornblaser field on the Grizzlies campus.
