Greear Leads Bobcats at Sacramento State Invite

After 36 holes of play, Kati Greear is sitting in 19th place at eight over par in the Sacramento State Invitational in a rainy, damp second round. Part way through the second round, play was delayed for 45 minutes due to rain at Sierra View Country Club in Sacramento, Calif. Greear shot three over (75) for the first 18 holes and six over in the second round (78).
Montana State is sitting in ninth place overall after the first two rounds with scores of 316 and 310 (626). San Francisco is the current leader, shooting 296-298 (594). Of the eight Big Sky Conference school's in the tournament, the 'Cats are currently in third behind Sacramento State and Northern Colorado.
"It was a tough day for us as a team," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We had Kati, Janelle and Haylee shoot in the 70's, but we need everyone shooting that low. We count four scores and we don't have that fourth score and haven't all spring. We need to dig deep and figure out how to play smarter and get rid of the high numbers."
Janelle Reali shot a team best in the second round, shooting 75. Reali totaled 155 after shooting an 80 in the first 18 holes. Haylee Folkvord matched Reali's 155, firing a 79 and 76 at 11 over par. Folkvord and Reali are sitting in 27th place heading into the final round. Natassja Meredith is in 68th with scores of 84 and 81. Jaylee Tait shot 82-85 and is currently in 71st.
"We can not take more than a bogey and need to believe in our games. I know we can fight through any round. If the wheels come off, we need to figure out how to put them back on. These ladies need to keep fighting and learn from each round. Tomorrow is a new day and we need to make up some strokes as a team. I believe we will finish strong and all five will bring their best."
The final 18 holes will begin tomorrow morning.
