Notable Bobcat alumni, along with two former All-American, will help support the MSU track and field teams in 2017
Several new and former volunteer assistants will help support the Montana State track and field squads during the 2017 indoor and outdoor season.
Former Bobcat track and field student-athletes Carley McCutchen, Cristian Soratos and Michael Tobin will assist the programs this upcoming season.
McCutchen wrapped up her Bobcat career in 2015 with several achievements. She completed her senior year by earning Big Sky Conference Championships in the heptathlon and pentathlon during the outdoor and indoor seasons, respectively. That year, she tied the conference record in the pentathlon (3,969). She is currently the school record holder in the 60-meter hurdles, pentathlon and heptathlon. McCutchen also has a place 13 times on MSU's top 10 performance lists.
One of the most notable runners in Bobcat history, Soratos completed his MSU career in 2015 and currently runs professionally for Adidas. An eight-time conference champion and two-time All-American, Soratos owns school records in the 800, 1500 and the distance medley relay. As a senior, Soratos ran the fastest mile in the nation (3:55.27) and finished runner-up in the event at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. His name can be seen more than ten times on MSU's all-time top-10 performance list.
Tobin graduated in the spring of 2015 after running three seasons for the Bobcats. He made his mark in the MSU record book in the sprint events, with his name seen eight times on the Bobcats' all-time top-10 performance list. He can be found on MSU's second and fourth best 4x400 relay squads and his highest individual performance on the Bobcats' all-time record list is his 10.69 time in the 100, third fastest in school history.
Joining them are former collegiate athletes Stephanie Brown and Sarah Keller.
Stephanie Brown currently runs professionally while representing Nike. As a senior at the University of Arkansas in 2014, Brown was a member of the Razorbacks' NCAA champion distance medley relay team. She finished her collegiate career as a four-time All-American, which included a sixth-place finish in the 1500 at the Outdoor Championships.
Keller completed her collegiate career running for Division II Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma. She ran both cross country and distance events in the indoor and outdoor track seasons for the Storm until her graduation in 2013. Keller previously served as an assistant coach at Dallas Baptist from 2014-16, working as the primary women's recruiter. She was also part of a staff that won two consecutive cross country conference championships and qualified as a team for the 2015 NCAA Division II Championships.
The five new volunteer assistants join two others who have aided the program in recent years. Judy Andriolo will continue to work with the MSU sprint group for a sixth season. Sam Read has also served as a volunteer assistant the last two seasons and will work with the Bobcat distance runners.
The Bobcats begin their 2017 slate with three consecutive home meets, starting Jan. 9 with the MSU-UM Multis Dual.
