Storm Wins Heptathlon, Qualifies for Big Sky Championships

HEPTATHLON RESULTS
Montana State junior Mason Storm won the men's indoor heptathlon that concluded this afternoon, scoring 4884 points. The closest competitor to Storm, Jess Beaman of Montana, totaled 4176 points over the seven event, two day competition.
Storm was the individual winner of both sprint events, winning the 60m dash in 7.14 and the 60m hurdles in 8.52. The Great Falls, MT native was the only competitor to qualify for the Big Sky Conference Championships by surpassing the qualifying mark of 4700.
Austin Decker placed third overall in his debut as a heptathlete, bringing a total of 4076. Five other Bobcats competed in the event for the first time in their careers, showing respective results over the two days. Decker, who competed solely in the pole vault last year, tied for first in the event, clearing a height of 14-01.75.
Montana State's full team will host the Montana State Open next Fridaym, January 15 beginning with field events at 3 p.m.
