Montana State women's golf will add one more student-athlete to the roster for the 2015-16 season, head coach Brittany Basye announced today.
"We are excited to add Natassja to our team this fall," Basye said. "She is the all-around student-athlete we are looking for to join our program. She will bring a ton of tournament experience, and add some depth to our team! Not only is she an aspiring golfer, she is also a great student and active community member."
Natassja Meredith will join the Blue and Gold this fall, making the move north from Tucson, AZ. Meredith chalked up four varsity golf letters for the St. Gregory College Preparatory Hawks where she graduated from this spring.
As a two-time team captain of the Hawks, Meredith earned two top ten finishes at the D-2 State Championships in the number one spot. In her debut season at St. Gregory Prep, Meredith tied for fifth in the State Championships, her best finish at the championships. She recorded her best two-day score of 143 in June of 2014t the JGAA Mesa City Junior World Qualifier at Dobson Ranch Golf Course.
Meredith is an active member in the Tucson community, volunteering at the Ben's Bells Project, the International School of Tucson and the Annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Toy Drive. She assists in fundraising for St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the St. Gregory Adopt a Refugee Family Program.
"Montana State seemed like a place that I would be really happy being at for four years," Meredith said when asked why she chose MSU. "Coach Basye was so helpful and kind in our correspondences and it seemed to me that playing on her team would lead to my growing as a player. The beautiful campus and surrounding college town were sort of just the cherry on top! I'm so excited to become a Bobcat. I can't wait to not only attend sporting events, but also be able to say that I'm an athlete right along with all of the others! Having that sense of community is something that I'm really looking forward to."
