Three Bobcats Punch Tickets to NCAA Finals

Paige Squire, Heather Demorest and Sean Ferriter found their way to the top 12 at the NCAA West Region Prelims in Austin, TX today, qualfiying to compete at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR in two weeks. All three seniors will be representing the Bobcats at the championships for the first time in their careers.
"All these of these kids competed very well today," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "They are all very deserving of this accomplishment and will represent the program well in two weeks."
Demorest broke her own school record for the second time this season, running the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:02.77. The senior placed ninth overall.
Squire snagged the last spot in the 400-meter hurdles to qualify for the NCAA championships, placing 12th with a time of 58.93.
Making his last throw count, Ferriter threw 210-08 on this third throw to move up to seventh place and advance to the championships.
Casey Teska cleared a height of 12-07.75 in the pole vault, missing the qualifying mark, but gaining valuable exerience for next season. The junior has competed at regionals the last two seasons and will return next season to compete for the 'Cats.
"It was a bummer to see Casey out so early, but competing at this level gives her great experience going into next season. She's been here twice already with an outdoor and indoor season still left to go as a Bobcat."
Cristian Soratos will compete in the 1500-meter finals tomorrow, in addition to Ty Bermes, Tanner Gambil and Dawn Blevins all competeing in the javelin.
