Strong Start Lands Cats in Top 10 Entering Closing Round at Cowgirl Classic

Janelle Reali leads way in lineup return
Janelle Reali announced her presence with authority.
The Montana State junior, after a week out of the Bobcat lineup, fired a two-round 145 (73-72), for the second-best entering the closing round, to lead MSU into 10th place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational in the Ak-Chin Dunes Golf Club in the Phoenix area Monday. MSU's first-round 300 left the Cats tied for fifth, but windy conditions hampered the team in round two.
"The team played really well in the first round," said Bobcat coach Brittany Basye. "We struggled in the second, and we need to get re-focused and ready for tomorrow. We can get ahead of ourselves, but we need to finish this tournament strong and use it as preparation for the conference tournament."
While Reali led the way, freshman Jaylee Tait's second-round 76 helped keep the Bobcats in the top 10. They were the only two players to shoot in the 70s in both rounds. "Janelle played well, and Jaylee followed up with a better second round," Basye said. "We need all five players to bring their best efforts (Tuesday). I want to see a total team effort."
MSU's two-round 612 leaves the Cats in 10th, but second among the nine Big Sky schools competing, after Idaho's 609. The Vandals are in seventh. After MSU's closing round on Tuesday, the Cats close their regular season at the Big Sky Championships two weeks from Tuesday.
