Janelle Reali Leads Bobcats in Round One at Southern Utah

MSU stands in 13th place entering final round
Bobcat sophomore Janelle Reali's outstanding first-round 76 rocketed her into the top five after the first round of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational at St. George, Utah, on Thursday.
Reali, in a fifth-place tie with two other players, "had a really nice round today," said MSU coach Brittany Basye. She was the only Bobcat, though, inside the top 50. Jaylee Tait, Haylee Folkvord and Lauren Hausauer each shot an 82 to stand in a tie for 54th place. Kati Greear's 86 left her tied for 68th.
Basye is looking for improvement from the team's round of 322, which leaves it 13th in the 14-team field. "We are better than a 322 on this course," Basye said. "It's a placement course, and our players had difficult with that, other than Janelle. It demands shots to areas, and if you miss those areas it's trouble. We need to bounce back (Friday)."
The Cats close out the tournament with the second round at the Pointe Blackrock course Friday morning. MSU plays at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Primm, Nev., beginning Monday.
