Bobcats Weather Tough Finishing Hole in Spring Opener

Jaylee Tait paces Cats through first round at Grand Canyon Invitational
The finish to Montana State's first round of the spring was tough, but Bobcat head golf coach Brittany Basye found plenty to like at the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Phoenix on Monday.
MSU finished with a round of 312, tied for eighth place with Big Sky rival Weber State. Basye said the closing hole caused her team trouble. "Hole 18 was not good to us today," she said. "We lost eight strokes there as a team."
Jaylee Tait (fr., Littleon, CO) checked in with MSU's low round, a 76, good for a 17th-place tie, while Janelle Reali (so., Livermore, CA) and Kati Greear (jr., Moscow, ID) each fired a 77 to stand tied for 28th. Lauren Hausauer (jr., Bozeman) carded an 82, tied for 80th, while Haylee Folkvord (jr., Three Forks) checked in with an 85, tied for 97th. Pari Keller, playing as an individual, shot an 81 (fr., Cincinnati, OH), and is tied for 72nd.
Overall, Basye was pleased with her squad's opening-round effort. "We played a lot of holes well today so we need to focus on those and be ready to compete (Tuesday)," she said. "We need to remember the good things from today, and learn from the mistakes."
