THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS:
Peyton Ferris came off the bench to post a game-high 18 points, while hauling down ten rebounds for her second straight double-double as the Bobcats cruised to an 81-55 win over Evansville. MSU used a smothering defense in the opening quarter as the Purple Aces went without a basket for the first 10-minutes. Montana State owned a 19-4 advantage after the opening stanza. The Bobcats pushed the lead to 42-16 at intermission and cruised the rest of the game shooting 51 percent from the field, while dominating the boards out-rebounding Evansville 54-31. MSU ended with a season-high 27 assists, led by a career-high 11 assists via Hannah Caudill. Also in double-figures were Jasmine Hommes and Riley Nordgaard with 15 and 11 points, respectively. On Saturday night, MSU held a 28-20 advantage at halftime, but couldn't stop Cal Poly in the second half as the Mustangs out-scored the Bobcats 46-29 to post a 66-57 victory. Nordgaard finished with a team-high 12 points and 12 rebounds for Montana State. Also in double-figures were Ferris 11, and Hommes 10.
MONTANA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Peyton Ferris played a major role in Montana State's three games last week. The Twin Bridges product came off the bench to record back-to-back double-doubles with 18 points and 11 rebounds against San Diego and 18 points and ten boards in MSU's win over Evansville. For the three games, Ferris averaged 15.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists, while shooting an impressive 67 (16-24) percent from the field and 88 (14-16) from the free throw line. She averaged 23 minutes of action coming off the bench. The 2014-15 Big Sky Conference Top Reserve is currently leading the Bobcats in scoring at 13.2 points per game and is second on the squad hauling down 7.0 rebounds per contest. She is just one field-goal make away from being eligible for national ranking in the category. Her season 63 percent FG% would be 19th in the country. For her efforts at Cal Poly she was named to the ShareSLO Holiday Classic All-Tournament team.
