Hommes Paces Bobcats Past Portland

Montana State's senior Jasmine Hommes dropped 21 points en route to a 86-57 Bobcat win over the University of Portland on Friday evening. The forward was 10-13 from the field and recorded four rebounds.
With only a two point lead at the first quarter break, Montana State (3-0) went on a 19-3 run to start the second quarter and push the lead to 37-17. Twenty-five points were scored by six different Bobcats in the second quarter to pace MSU to a comfortable 41-23 lead at the half.
The Bobcats continued to push to start the third quarter, gaining a 29 point lead just under three minutes into the half. MSU scored 20 or more points in the final three quarters, cruising to a 29 point win. MSU shot 60-percent from the field, while Portland only converted 39-percent of their shots. Both team had shot over 50-percent from behind the arc and 68-percent from the free-throw line.
Four Bobcats scored in double digits, while 10 contributed to the team's total. Riley Norgaard tallied 13 points and added eight rebounds, while Delany Junkermier hit three, three pointers for 11 points. Payton Ferris added 10 points.
Darian Slaga led the Pilots in points, shooting 6-8 for 15 total. Two other Pilots scored in double digits, while Sara Zaragoza recorded six rebounds.
Nordgaard pulled down four offensive rebounds, adding to her four on the defensive end for a team-high eight. Lindsay Stockton grabbed seven rebounds and scored eight points for the Bobcats.
Montana State continues at home on Tuesday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. when they host San Diego.
