MSU caps whirlwind week with 14th-place finish at Wyoming Cowgirl Invite
Janelle Reali shot a three-round 237 to finish tied for 36th, leading Montana State at the 2014 Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Invitational in Palm Desert, Calif., Saturday and Sunday.
Reali posted MSU's low score for the second time in three fall tournaments, shooting 78-79-80. The Bobcats finished 14th in the 16-team field, and MSU coach Brittany Basye characterized the weekend as "a struggle," but also as an opportunity. "We did not play well as a team, but this tournament identified some shots we have to work on and we have a week-and-a-half to get better before our next tournament."
Jaylee Tait finished two strokes behind Reali (81-80-78/239) to finish tied for 45th, while Kati Greear (79-82-82/243) finished tied for 60th. Haylee Folkvord's 79-86-84/249 put her in 76th place, and Lauren Hausauer shot 90-79-85/254 to finish tied for 81st.
MSU's next outing is October 10-12 at Highlands Ranch Golf Course near Denver.
