Women's Golf Sits in Third After First Day of Big Sky Tournament

Montana State Women's Golf started the Big Sky Golf Championship with a a bang. The Bobcats sit in third place of 11 Big Sky teams after the opening round of 18 at Ocotillo Golf Club on Sunday, April 20. MSU shot a collective 305 (+17) and currently sit behind overall leader Portland State (299) and Sacramento State (304).
Kati Greear boasted the lowest score for the Blue and Gold and will enter the second round in a three-way tie for third place. Greear carded a 74 (+2). The overall leader hails from Portland State, as A Ram Choi finished two below with 70.
Last year's champion, Paige Crawford is in ninth place with 76 and also shares that same score with Janelle Reali, making her first Big Sky appearance.
Pamela Calderon Rojas also kept her score under 80, carding a 79, good enough for 23rd place. Haylee Folkvord rounded out the MSU golfers with an 85, for 46th place.
"The team played well today," said head coach Brittany Basye. "Our short game work is paying off and I'm pretty excited to see that. This sport is a three-day game and we need to be ready for tomorrow like we were today. We have go out and give 110% and do what we know how to do."
The second round is set to tee off at 7:30 a.m. (MDT) at Ocotillo.
