Opening day of SUU Invite gives MSU slow start
Day 1 Results
Montana State Women's Golf had a slow start at the Southern Utah Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, Utah, on Thursday. In the 12-team tournament, the Bobcats currently sit in 11th place with a combined 338 after the opening 18 holes. Oral Roberts leads all teams with 305. Tournament host Southern Utah is in second place with 308.
The overall day one medalist was Emily Kaye from Grand Canyon, finishing one-below part with 71.
MSU's highest finisher was Kati Greear, carding a score of 80 (+8). Janelle Reali sits in 41st (83), followed by Haylee Folkvord in 54th (86). Last year's Big Sky Champion, Paige Crawford is currently in 64th place with 89 and Pamela Calderon Rojas rounds out the day one competition rosters in 70th with 94.
Lauren Hausauer and Bergen Buck competed as individuals, placing 50th and 54th, respectively.
"We'll go back out there ready to tee it up," said head coach Brittany Basye. "Tomorrow is a new day, we need to keep positive, make our putts and improve our play."
Montana State also has the opportunity to face several Big Sky schools in St. George. In addition to Southern Utah, Easter Washington, Weber State, North Dakota and Idaho State are also competing.
The second and final round of play is set to commence, tomorrow, Friday, March 14, at 8:30 a.m.
