Bobcats Reverse Roles When SDSM&T Visits Fieldhouse Wednesday

MSU hosts Hardrockers for first time on the hardwood
Brian Fish has plenty of experience playing the underdog role this season. On Wednesday, the script will be flipped.
When Montana State hosts NCAA Division II Independent South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in a 7 pm game in Worthington Arena, the Bobcats will be the clear favorite. Fish is anxious to see how his team responds.
"This will be the first time this year we'll be the favorite," Montana State's first-year head coach said. "I've said this so many times, but for us to win games this year we'll need to play a certain way. We'll need to dive on loose balls and scrap for rebounds. We'll need to play harder than the other team. I want to see us play with that kind of energy and intensity (Wednesday)."
The Hardrockers enter the game 2-6, but Fish wants his 1-5 squad to prepare and play as if it were playing Kentucky or UCLA, two of its earlier foes.
"They'll play a deliberate style," Fish said. "We can't let them dictate tempo to us."
The Bobcats pass the midway mark of the team's four-game homestand Wednesday night, and MSU hosts Utah Valley Saturday at 7:30 pm. The team's challenging schedule then takes the Cats to Wyoming, South Dakota and Portland before a home game against Wyoming just before Christmas on Dec. 23.
